COVID-19 FAQs for Service Providers

ACECQA has also provided further information regarding first aid training. What should I do if I have an educator whose CPR training is due to expire and they are unable to complete the practical component of this training due to COVID-19? Education and care service providers and educators are encouraged to pursue all available options to complete first aid refresher training, including completing only the theoretical aspects of the training, if necessary.

The Education and Care unit would consider a temporary waiver relating to the requirements for CPR refresher training, supported by evidence of having actively sought training opportunities and/or completed the theoretical aspects of the training. The approved provider should also demonstrate what measures would be put in place

Release of the 2019 NQF Review Consultation Regulation Impact Statement (CRIS)

The 2019 NQF Review aims to ensure that the NQF remains current and continues to lift quality of practice.

The review process aims to address how the regulations are operating and to understand more about your views on improvements.

Governments have developed options for changes to the NQF in the Consultation Regulation Impact Statement (CRIS).

Families, educators, providers of education and care services, and the broader community, are invited to have their say on the future regulation of quality education and care services in Australia.

The CRIS is now available for download from www.nqfreview.com.au

The NQF Review website also provides details about the consultation process, information sessions and how to provide responses to the CRIS.

Submitting your QIP using the NQAITS portal

…before submitting it.

Having access to your service’s most recent QIP provides Authorised Officers with the opportunity to be familiar with your service’s goals and aspirations. This will support meaningful engagement and inform preparation for A&R visits.

To make sure that the ECU can continue to access your current QIP, we will send out reminders three times a year to upload your service’s QIP if any changes have been made.

A new ACECQA website will go live on Tuesday 30 January, with a much improved user experience.

Among other resources, the ACECQA website will provide further information about transitioning to the revised NQS.

National Regulations available

A consolidated version of the Education and Care Services National Regulations will be available at www.legislation.nsw.gov.au once the 1 February 2018 date has passed.

Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) Requirement

The Education and Care Services National Regulations require an approved provider of an education and care service to ensure that a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) is prepared by the service and reviewed at least annually.

The Education and Care Unit requires all Tasmanian education and care services to update their QIP to align with the 2018 National Quality Standard, as of 1 April 2018.

The Education and Care Services National Regulations do not prescribe a format for a QIP, however, ACECQA has developed a template to support services, which can be found here: https://www.acecqa.gov.au/resources/information-sheets

Should you have any questions in relation to this change, please contact your service’s Education and Care Unit (ECU) Point of Contact directly, or through the
